The focus of the Tribe's Economic Development Department is to foster business growth and development on or near the Reservation. These businesses will employ tribal members and provide profits and tax revenues to fund tribal services. One near term economic development goal is to develop a comprehensive economic development plan in accordance with Public Law 101-618. Economic Development Strategic Plan Important Notice:
3rd Draft of Strategic Plan of the overall Economic The strategic plan is a plan for how the Tribe is going to create jobs and growth on the reservation; it does not contain any policy matters concerning the uses of the Pyramid Lake Economic Development Fund from PL-101-618. The plan consists of generalized goals and policies that the Tribal Government should follow in order to create jobs and growth on the reservation. The strategic plan was drafted by staff over the past several months using information gathered during the public outreach process in 2009 and early 2010, reviewing past Economic Development Planning efforts, reviewing past Tribal Member surveys and comments, and other successful Tribal and non-Tribal Economic Development plans. The Strategic Plan is not the entire Economic Development Plan and has nothing to do with per-captia distribution. Free copies of 3rd draft of Strategic Plan are available.
