4-H Enviro-Friendly Group

The 4-H Enviro-Friendly Group was formed to educate the young members of the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation community about environmental issues.  World, regional, and local environmental issues are presented to the group during regular weekly meetings.  The group also participates in various community service projects that give the 4-H members a sense of responsibility towards their well being as well as their community and environment.  It is very important to teach the youth about environmental issues and get them involved because the are the ones who will carry on the fight to protect the environment in the future.

The 4-H Enviro-Friendly Group consists of students, 10 years and older, who live in the Wadsworth Community on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation. The group has grown over the years and over 20 students have participated in the 4-H Enviro-Friendly Group. Many of these members return year after year. Our members attend four different schools in the area: Natchez Elementary School, Fernley Intermediate School, Mendive Middle School, and Reed High School.

The 4-H Enviro-Friendly group not only reaches the 4-H members but also their families. Many times the 4-H members take what they have learned from the group and teach their families about how they too can make a difference and protect the environment. We have also heard from various people in the community who were impressed by the group members and the work that they have done throughout the years.
